Charleston Southern University celebrated the opening of Magnolia Hall, a 52,000 sqft dorm for 216 students, on Aug.

17. The campus will add a new 2,000 sqft student health clinic from Roper St. Francis Healthcare on Aug. 25 & it will treat common illnesses and minor injuries on site.

A school counselor at Hursey Montessori School is leading a project to stock a hygiene station with essential items (wipes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products and lotion) for roughly 250 sixth- to eighth-graders to help meet basic needs and boost classroom confidence.

Charleston County is planning redesign of nearly 2 miles of Folly Road to add 7,000 feet of new pedestrian path, wider sidewalks, and bike lanes with high-visibility green markings.

Funding meetings to finalize the $6.3 million project are scheduled, which could let crews break ground within a couple of months.
